About buildindex.trade
buildindex.trade keeps the whole allocation legible: the companies, the screening, the strategy, and the final weights. It is built for investors who want a repeatable model portfolio rather than a black-box fund.
- What is buildindex.trade?
- buildindex.trade is a web app that turns a ticker list or an ETF's Shariah-compliant holdings into a weighted model portfolio you can save and run as a Trading 212 pie.
- How does the Shariah screening work?
- When you build an index from an ETF, the app fetches the fund's holdings from the issuer or SEC filings, checks each company against a halal screener, and keeps only the names that pass. You choose how strict the unethical-flag tolerance is, from critical down to none.
- Which weighting strategies can I use?
- There are 24 strategies, including equal weight, market capitalization, dividend yield, momentum, quality, value, and risk parity. Each result is capped at 14% and floored at 0.1% so it fits Trading 212 pie slices.
- Does buildindex.trade place trades?
- No. It saves indexes and creates or retargets Trading 212 pies through the Trading 212 API. Only the weights change; no orders are placed.
- Is buildindex.trade financial advice?
- No. Calculations use SEC and Yahoo Finance data, which may contain errors or be out of date. Shariah screening is a starting filter, not a guarantee, and some holdings may still require purification. Do your own research.
- What data does buildindex.trade use?
- Fund holdings come from issuer files, SEC Form N-PORT, and public ETF sources. Market, statement, and price data come from SEC filings and Yahoo Finance. Each fund is shown with its own as-of date and source attribution.
